Dr. Martin was born and raised in California where he earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California at Davis. He worked in scientific and industrial instrumentation for several years before leaving business to attend medical school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. While successfully completing an accelerated residency in Family Practice at University Hospitals of Cleveland, he pursued special interests in women’s health, maternity care, and community medicine. In 1998, he received the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians’ Honored Resident Award and joined Auburn Family Medical Center on completion of his residency that year. He spearheaded AFMC’s efforts in the first Washington State Diabetes Breakthrough Collaborative, and continues to have a strong interest in the management of chronic disease in primary care. He has organized the practice’s activity in DOQ-IT. Dr. Martin is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

He is co-chair of Auburn Regional Medical Center’s Diabetes Advisory Council. Additionally, he serves as medical director for a local long-term skilled nursing facility.

Dr. Martin is currently Vice President of the Auburn Food Bank, and serves as the Division II representative on the Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association board of directors. Active in the Washington Academy of Family Physicians, he chairs the Academy’s Commission on Health Care Services, is a member of the Information Technology and Child and School Health Committees and served on the Board of Directors of the King County Academy of Family Physicians from 2002 to 2006. He was named as a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians in 2006 and in 2007 was named to a four-year term on the Academy’s Commission on Quality (see press release here). He lives with his wife, children, stepchildren and a few quadrupeds in Bonney Lake and enjoys kayaking and the outdoors.

Dr. Martin provides maternity care, and performs osteopathic manipulation, medical hypnosis, and colposcopy.
